Cleanroom Air Shower Sizing Chart & Quote Checklist

How to size a cleanroom air shower for people or goods — personnel and cargo charts, how to read the dimensions, performance values to put in your spec, and a copy-ready quote checklist.

Air shower sizing starts with the load: personnel, packaged goods, trolleys, or a continuous cargo flow. Choose the application type first, then check clear space, the installation envelope, door arrangement, and users or items per cycle.

The charts below are published reference sizes for automatic-door personnel units and cargo lines. They are a planning starting point, not a substitute for an installation drawing. For a cleanroom air shower that must fit an existing opening, confirm configuration and dimensions before releasing the layout.

Personnel vs cargo air showers: pick the type first

Personnel air showers

Personnel units remove loose particles from cleanroom garments before entry. Select a single-person, two-person, or multi-person arrangement for the people entering during a normal shift change, and allow time for the full blow cycle.

Nozzles can blow from two sides or three sides. Two-side air showers suit many entry layouts; three-side air showers add another direction where broader coverage is required. Automatic sensing doors support hands-free passage — specify sensing and interlock needs in the enquiry.

Cargo air showers

Cargo units need clear space for the largest load, including its trolley, pallet carrier, or handling frame — not packaging alone. Check the full moving assembly and the space to place and remove it safely.

Roll-door cargo showers use a rapid roll door. Sliding-door cargo showers cover double-door units and longer cargo tunnels. A tunnel extends the blowing zone for longer loads or a defined route; the handling process decides whether a single chamber or tunnel fits.

Sizing chart: personnel air showers

The following sizes apply only to automatic-door two-side personnel units. Dimensions follow the source-table order of L×W×H.

Configuration Exterior (mm) Interior (mm) Nozzles HEPA size (mm) × qty Pre-filter size (mm) × qty Unit power (W)
Single-person two-side 1200×1000×2180 800×930×1910 12 630×630×69 ×1 775×380×21 ×1 780
Compact two-person two-side 1200×1500×2180 800×1430×1910 16 630×915×69 ×1 775×380×21 ×1 1130
Two-person two-side 1200×2000×2180 800×1930×1910 24 630×630×69 ×2 775×380×21 ×2 1540
Multi-person two-side 1200×3000×2180 800×2930×1910 32 630×915×69 ×2 775×380×21 ×2 2240
  • Fan supply in the source table is 380 V/50 Hz for all rows; noise is ≤63 dB at 1 m.
  • Fan power and airflow are listed as single-fan values: 750 W and 1500 m³/h for the 12- and 24-nozzle rows, and 1100 W and 2550 m³/h for the 16- and 32-nozzle rows. Total system airflow depends on how many fans run — confirm on quotation.
  • Two-side and three-side manual-door personnel units do not have a separate published size table. Do not apply the dimensions above to them. Modular length is available, and exact dimensions are confirmed on quotation.
  • Dimension order follows the source table; confirm orientation against the installation drawing for your opening.

Need a different length or opening? Send your dimensions with the checklist below.

Sizing chart: cargo air showers

Cargo exterior dimensions exclude the doors. Check door projection, operating zone, and maintenance access on the final drawing — the chamber envelope alone is not the full installation requirement.

Fan count and total airflow: confirm on quotation. Unit power: confirm on quotation. Roll-door opening and closing speeds: confirm on quotation.

Exterior dimensions exclude the doors. Noise is ≤63 dB at 1 m. The same single-fan caveat applies: 550 W and 1250 m³/h per fan. Total airflow: confirm on quotation.

How to read the chart: what changes the size

Persons or goods per cycle → cabin length

For personnel units, longer published cabin length accommodates more users and more nozzles. Nozzle count rises from 12 to 16, 24, and 32 as the listed configuration lengthens. A longer chamber does not automatically mean a faster cycle — match capacity to entry patterns and the specified blow time.

For cargo, measure the longest load and decide whether one load, several loads, or a train of trolleys must fit in one cycle. Leave clearance at both ends so doors can close clear of the load.

Internal clear height and width

Personnel interiors in the chart are 1910 mm high and 800 mm wide. Cargo interiors are 2000 mm high, with width varying by configuration. Compare these clear dimensions with the person’s working space or the full trolley-and-goods envelope.

Keep exterior and interior separate: exterior checks the opening and surrounding space; interior decides what can pass and stand inside. Framing, filters, nozzles, and doors explain why the two differ.

Door type: swing, automatic sensing, sliding, rapid roll

Door selection affects the operating sequence and space around the chamber. Swing doors need an opening arc; automatic sensing doors need defined detection and interlock behavior; sliding and rapid roll doors need their own housing and clearances. State the door type early and request a drawing of movement and service zones.

Two-side vs three-side nozzles

Two-side blowing directs air from opposing walls; three-side adds another direction where required. Select the arrangement in the functional specification — do not assume a personnel size table transfers between nozzle layouts.

Corner and other non-standard layouts

Corner entry and exit, including L- and T-shaped routes, can change the chamber and door arrangement. These and other non-standard layouts are made to order. Provide a plan with entry/exit direction, wall interfaces, and available space; exact dimensions: confirm on quotation.

Performance values to state in your spec

State measurable requirements so quotation and technical documents can be checked consistently:

  • Nozzle exit velocity: >25 m/s.
  • Velocity at the person: >18 m/s (two-side personnel product information).
  • Filtration: two stages — pre-filter and HEPA.
  • HEPA efficiency: 99.99% in the two-side personnel product information; confirm class on quotation.
  • Noise: ≤63 dB at 1 m for listed automatic-door personnel and sliding-door cargo units.
  • Blow-off time: 10–99 s adjustable for the automatic-door personnel line. For other types: adjustable; confirm range on quotation.
  • Nozzles: stainless steel, adjustable.
  • Personnel interlock: dual-door electronic interlock with infrared on the two-side personnel line; confirm control package on quotation.
  • Cabinet material: state project preference; source tables do not publish a material grade.

If velocity or noise form part of acceptance, define where and how they will be verified.

Power supply

Source tables list a 380 V/50 Hz fan supply. State site voltage, phase, and frequency in the enquiry, and distinguish fan values from total unit power. Other voltages or frequencies: confirm on quotation.

Fan count affects connected load and total airflow — do not multiply a single-fan figure without confirming the configuration. The electrical drawing should identify the connection point and control wiring.

Filters inside the cleanroom air shower

The charts use HEPA filters sized 630×630×69 mm or 630×915×69 mm, with 775×380×21 mm pre-filters. Quantities vary by row — use the selected configuration for access and replacements, and confirm sizes on the final documents.

For maintenance planning, see the HEPA replacement checklist. For filter categories, see EPA and sub-HEPA filter selection and what EPA filters are. These support terminology; they do not replace the air-shower quotation.

Plan the installation with your enquiry

Send the completed checklist through the site RFQ or enquiry form with layout and load drawings, using the air-showers category to review personnel and cargo configurations. Clear dimensions and operating requirements help confirm the chamber, doors, controls, and electrical details together.

Modules can ship as sections; positioning and electrical connection are typically the buyer’s scope — confirm site responsibilities before installation.

Request a quotation

Send the configuration, quantity and destination.

A quotable request names the product family, the key specifications or the fact that they are still open, the quantity, the destination and who will install on site.
